In 2013, the U.S. Department of Education clarified the responsibilities of public schools in ensuring that students with disabilities be given opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities, including sports teams, equal to that of students without disabilities. Extracurricular activities for students with disabilities may include both the student’s school and adapted athletic teams. The purpose of this presentation is to provide strategies for ensuring student success in extracurricular programs, including adapted athletics. (CEU)
