444 Fit to Teach—Fit to Learn: Interdisciplinary Health Literacy

Friday, April 4, 2014: 11:30 AM-12:30 PM
Convention Center: 132
School Health Education: K-12 Standards-based Instruction
Intended Audience: K-12, Post Secondary Student
Speakers: Colleen A. McCabe, University of Wisconsin–Platteville, Platteville, WI; and Lisa A. Emendorfer, University of Wisconsin–Platteville, Platteville, WI
The session will provide participants exposure to experiential learning activities to develop or strengthen a positive disposition, i.e. willingness to commit to the ending health-related educational disparities within K-12 populations. Due to the CDC supported fact that health-related factors and chronic illness can lead to poor school performance, all K-12 educators need to become stronger and more visible advocates of health-related behaviors.
