The West Virginia Department of Education's (WVDE) Office of Healthy Schools and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources' Office of Healthy Lifestyles have teamed up with Microsoft to get kids moving. The group is gaming on the Xbox helping students increase their physical activity. Nearly 300 Xbox Kinect bundles have been provided to public schools in the state. The game systems will be used to bolster physical education and health classes as players use their own body movement to control the video games. The Let's Move! West Virginia Kinected Project is part of the Let's Move! West Virginia Active Schools campaign and first lady Michelle Obama's national Let's Move effort. Please join Mary Weikle, Coordinator, Health and Physical Education from the WV Department of Education to learn more about the project methodology and success rates.
