AAPAR/Measurement & Evaluation Council
Speaker: | Steven Blair, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC |
Obesity prevalence has been increasing around the world. While the causes of this epidemic are complex and poorly understood, it is indisputable that persistent weight gain is caused by chronic positive energy imbalance via increases in caloric intake or decrements in energy expenditure or some combination of the two. It is crucial that we have more accurate measurement of both intake and expenditure in order to understand the epidemic and develop policies to address it. A business meeting of the Measurement & Evaluation Council will take place during the first 30 minutes of this session.
