Fitness professionals, physical educators, and coaches are aware of the popularity of high intensity training (HIT) programs such as Crossfit and P90X. While these programs are popular with their users and are effective in efforts to lose weight and gain muscle, do such regimens improve performance for recreational and serious athletes? This session will briefly summarize HIT and discuss the current research, including data recently conducted by the presenters, on its overall effectiveness.
