Our Campus, Our Health: A Student-led Campus Health Assessment is a model to engage undergraduate students in the development, implementation and marketing of an annual comprehensive health behavior assessment. The transformational learning opportunity teaches basic health education methodology to mentor the next generation of research leaders while offering a valuable resource to the entire campus and local community.

After data collection and analysis, the research team delivered a State of the Student Health Address to share the findings with students, faculty, administrators, and community stakeholders. The team also developed an Executive Summary, produced a video for university recruitment purposes, developed a press release with media kit and engaged local media outlets.

Through effective communication and advocacy strategies, risky student health behaviors received much-needed attention, the project was awarded institutional funding for continued delivery, and the student researchers practiced several critical Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) competencies.
