Within the sport industry two primary challenges must be addressed. First, organizations in the sport industry must hire and retain employees who possess appropriate skills and can perform them at a high level of competency. The second challenge concerns individuals desiring work in the sport industry to attain these skills in order to find a position. These challenges can be addressed by academic internship experiences that exist in university sport management programs.
