This session is an introduction to a student-centered approach to teach traditional dance utilizing rap and hip hop music. This is taught in a way so that gender roles are equal. A creation of one “Squaring to the Rap” and one “Hip Hop Hoedown” will be taught. Participants will then get a chance to create their own “Squaring to the Rap” or “Hip Hop Hoedown.” Participants will be asked to share their creations.
