Health Optimizing Physical Education (HOPE) was developed to help P-12 students acquire knowledge and skills for lifelong participation in physical activity for optimal health benefits. HOPE has several strands that supplement a school’s physical education program. Other HOPE strands are designed for classroom teachers, administrators and staff, and parents. This session will describe the HOPE model and explain what is needed by inservice teachers, preservice teachers, and teacher educators to implement HOPE effectively.
