This lecture/discussion will present the thesis that physical education must join, initiate and/or lead a holistic approach to education in order to ensure its future as a credible profession. This thesis is based on the premises that (1) humans are holistic in nature and (2) separatism, school from community as well as partitioning between the disciplines, has not been effective in establishing such credibility, therefore, a holistic approach is called for.
