The 2011 R. Tait McKenzie lecture will be given by Dr. John Elder, Distinguished Professor of Public Health at San Diego State University. Elder will summarize his research and community health promotion initiatives in the Mexican-American and Mexican immigrant communities of San Diego and the US-Mexico border region. Special emphasis will be placed on NIH and CDC funded community trials for obesity prevention, physical activity promotion and healthy eating in schools, parks and recreation centers, and churches. The session also includes the induction of new Fellows of the North American Society for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance Professionals.
