Research has revealed beliefs of innate athletic superiority based on race (Burden, et al. 2004). These beliefs advocate the notion that racial genetics explain the potential for ability and success in specific sports/physical activities. These attitudes foster racial polarization regarding behavioral intentions in specific sports/physical activities. This session will provoke adminstrators, teachers, coaches, and physical activity practicioners thought about potential interventions, strategies, and actions to counter racial polarization in places of sport and physical activity.
