NASPE and the CDC recommend students spend at least 50% of physical education class time in moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA). Appropriate instructional practices, as described by NASPE, can increase time spent in MVPA. In 2009 Lincoln (Nebraska) Public Schools received a PEP grant to increase physical activity in elementary schools. This session will present examples of instructional practices that were modified by LPS elementary physical education teachers to increase MVPA for students.
