Motor development and learning have traditionally been relatively independent fields of study in terms of theory, experiment and task. Contemporary systems approaches to the study of movement offer principles to integrate these inherently related fields of study. In this talk I outline key aspects of such an approach, including the role of time scales in motor development and learning, while proposing a lifespan perspective to an integrated field of study to movement in action.
