Self-talk (ST) typically consists of positive or negative statements made to the self; and it has been described as: words, phrases or cues, variable and dynamic, that possess understandable elements to the performer. This presentation will identify ST concepts for the teacher, coach, or performer to apply: the types of ST used by a variety of performers, its functions, frequency, and the variety of activities wherein it may be effectively used.
