2011 AAHPERD National Convention and Exposition, Indianapolis, IN, March 16-20, 2011
AAHE Research Coordinating Board
CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The AAHE Research Coordinating Board (RCB) invites researchers and practitioners to submit papers to be considered for presentation at the National Convention of the American Association for Health Education. Abstracts related to integrating research and practice, research methods, and professional preparation research are encouraged. Abstracts from practitioners and students are encouraged. Student papers will be featured. Studies that have preliminary results are acceptable for review but will be judged more rigorously than a completed study.

The paper or poster must be presented at the conference by the author or co-author integral to the paper; the paper must not have been presented or published previously. All program participants must register for the Convention. Persons making contributed papers/presentations who do not wish to register for the entire Convention may register for only the day of their presentation.

Submissions should be consistent with the mission of the AAHE, the purposes of the Research Coordinating Board: promote research and its application to health education/promotion; enhance integration of research and practice; foster and promote interdisciplinary research; improve health education/promotion research methodology; translate and disseminate research findings; facilitate practitioner involvement in research activities; promote the development of research skills among AAHE members in all practice settings; recognize excellence in research and its application; develop and influence health policy through research findings, and serve as a resource to AAHE and the Alliance.

Submissions must be received no later than June 15th. Submissions received after that date will not be reviewed. Please be sure to address each of the areas mentioned below. Because continuing education credits/units are offered for the AAHE RCB sessions, behavioral objectives must be clearly stated.

Abstracts will be reviewed by a committee of the AAHE RCB in a blind review process. All applicants will be notified about the acceptance or rejection of their submission on or before September 30th. Only submissions adhering to these instructions will be considered for presentation.

The submission must include the following:

  1. All submissions must be research based
  2. Name of investigators and indication of which investigator will present the paper.
  3. Institutional affiliation.
  4. Complete mailing address.
  5. Email address and phone number.
