The 2009 National Dance Educators of the Year share their innovative teaching methods. Billie Lepczyk introduces her Core Curriculum Creative Dance Course taught at Virginia Tech University. Movements are inspired by photographic images and in turn the class acts as an icebreaker for students with diverse backgrounds. Mary Ann Laverty explores the elements of Haiku in creating beautiful, surprisingly unexpected images. Both lessons are successful at K-12 levels and fulfill the National Dance Standards requirements.
