This symposium will introduce Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and its potential in assessing physical activity and fitness. After providing an overview of RFID (including its history, hardware, and applications), its potential in solving measurement problems in physical education will be described. We also demonstrate A-PASS (Automatic Physical Activity Scoring System), developed by IPICO Sports and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, to measure aerobic capacity using tests in FIGNESSGRAM®.
