Recent research indicates that there appears to be either a lack of understanding or defiance of the law relative to prayer at interscholastic athletic (Beck, Gillentine, Goldfine, Seidler 2009). The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of prayer practices at public high school sporting events; additionally, benchmark legal rulings are discussed and clear guidelines for coaches and athletic directors are articulated.
