Trace the lineage of jazz dance that formed the basis for styles in Broadway musicals and on film from the 1940s to the present. Discuss Denishawn, Graham, Humphrey-Weidman, and jazz pioneer Jack Cole and his student Matt Mattox. Participants will benefit from practicing sequential exercises linked to this modern-to-jazz legacy, from floor work to a standing combination. Enjoy moving and take away a kinesthetic experience that connects jazz to its modern roots.
