Hair Stylists and Barbers as Lay Health Educators
Hair stylists and barbers are emerging as effective health educators for combating health concerns such as high blood presssure, cancer, domestic violence, and unintended pregnancies. Stylists have a unique opportunity to deliver health education messages due to the bond of trust with clients and the regularity with which they see clients. This session will discuss current salon-based projects and strategies for recruiting and training stylists, as well as evaluating salon projects.
