Enhancing Pre-Service Educators’ Socio-Cultural Competencies: Classroom, Clinical, and Community Strategies
Cultural competence encompasses academic, interpersonal, clinical, and pedagogical skills that empower individuals to raise their understanding of differences within, among, and between individuals of varied genders, races, nationalities, ethnicities, socio-economic strata, physical abilities, sexual orientations, and geographic locale. The purpose of this workshop is to empower participants to embrace innovative pedagogies as venues to enhance pre-service physical educator’s socio-cultural competencies for teaching. Specifically, strategies to promote pre-service educators’ knowledge, skills, and dispositions.
