The Promises and Pitfalls of Sport Specialization in Youth Sport
A growing trend among today’s youth is the specialization in one sport, or one position in a sport, at increasingly younger ages in order to compete at the highest levels. Additionally, even varsity coaches are sometimes required to be totally committed to one sport. This symposium will examine the influence and impact of sports specialization in children and youth from a multi-disciplinary perspective using the expertise of the NASPE Academies and an expert coach.
