Health Related Issues for Active Women and Female Athletes
Women are at particular risk for a host of health issues, and although healthy eating and exercise can promote cardiovascular vigor and bone health, excessive exercise can compromise bone mineral density (BMD) and eventually lead to osteoporosis. Further, improper or insufficient eating habits can also contribute to BMD decline. Osteoporosis, the Female Athlete Triad, nutritional needs of exercising women and other important health related issues will be discussed in this presentation.
