Learning Through Serving: National Girls and Women in Sports Day
National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) events provide a rich experience for participants as well as those who volunteer. Service learning is a means to engage in community-based projects in the context of an academic curriculum and academic student learning outcomes (Cress, Collier, Reitenauer, & Associates, 2005). This presentation focuses on ways teachers can provide service learning opportunities for students hosting a NGWSD event. Cynthia Lee A. Pemberton is co-author of this session.
