Impact of Federal & State Policy on Professional Preparation in APE
This session will discuss how federal mandates and trends in special education have facilitated: (a) changes in state education policies and physical education teacher education (PETE) programs; (b) advocacy efforts by PETE professionals; and (c) funding changes specific to special education (APE) services for students with disabilities. Current practices and relevant APE updates from California, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin will be presented with reference to APENS and NASPE Standards.
