Not By the Book: Using Service-Learning to Engage Students
Service-learning is a type of student-community relationship in which students develop a deeper sense of understanding through engagement. Presenters will share experiences of facilitating service-learning in physical education, adapted physical activity, and sport management. Session goals are: (1) define service-learning and how it differs from traditional learning; (2) discuss benefits and expectations of service-learning; (3) provide lessons learned and best practices of service-learning; and (4) provide opportunities for attendees to explore issues related to service-learning.
