Classification Techniques Toward Physical Activity and Health-Related Behaviors
In health and physical activity research, it is very important to classify participants into groups prior to evaluating the dependent measures such as cognitive, affective and health behavior outcomes. In recent years the two-stage cluster analysis is believed to be a better classification technique. The purpose of this tutorial is two-fold: (1) to review classification techniques and introduce the two stage cluster analysis with details to answer what, why and how to use it; and (2) to demonstrate two empirical applications using the cluster technique in physical education and physical activity participation.
