Sticks and Stones: Preventing Bullying and Homophobia in Middle School
Many middle schools struggle with bullying, but when it is related to sexual orientation, the problem can escalate. Issues of masculinity, gender roles, homophobia and cultural beliefs about sexual orientation often compound the problem. These contributing factors can create a toxic environment for young teens. This workshop will explore the intersection of the "be a man" box and how that impacts middle schoolers who are bullied about their perceived sexual orientation.
