This presentation will focus on a group called “Save Oregon Wrestling” which emerged in the aftermath of an announced elimination of that program in June of 2007 by University of Oregon administrators. This case will be examined in light of political and corporate forces that shaped its history and the inconvenient institutional truths that are often obscured when Title IX is wrongly implicated in decisions driven by the corporate interest of athletic departments and institutions.
