459 Educational Gymnastics: A Perfect Fit for PE

Thursday, April 2, 2009: 2:45 PM-4:00 PM
Tampa Convention Center: Ballroom C
NASPE/Preschool and Elementary PE
Speaker: John Bale, Riverside Elementary, Boise, ID
CEU OPPORTUNITY: This session is for physical educators who want to teach gymnastics in their program but lack confidence to teach it because they feel they may not have the skill and knowledge to do so. This approach is safe and successful for all teachers and students. Educational gymnastics is powerful because it uses concepts (i.e. axes of rotation) to teach skills rather than skill progressions (steps for a handspring) used in Olympic gymnastics approaches.
