785 Interscholastic Coaching Requirements Then and Now: Impact of Changing Policies

CEU OPPORTUNITY: During the last forty years scholars and practitioners have debated the need and practicality of coaching education. This presentation reviews the current state of interscholastic coaching education policy as outlined in the National Coaching Report (NASPE, 2008). Sisley and Wiese’s (1987) findings are revisited to ascertain what changes, if any, have occurred during the last twenty years. The impact of current standards on the recruitment and retention of qualified interscholastic sport coaches will be discussed.
