590 Biomechanics Academy Forum: Biomechanics Past and Future Contributions

Friday, April 3, 2009: 10:15 AM-12:15 PM
Tampa Convention Center: 7-8
NASPE/Research/Physical Sciences
Presider: Debra A. Allyn, University of WI - River Falls, River Falls, WI
Speaker: Pamela J. Russell, Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, MA
Panelists: Lawrence D. Abraham, University of Texas-Austin, Austin, TX; and Miriam N. Satern, Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL
CEU OPPORTUNITY: Historically the discipline of biomechanics has contributed to sport and physical education, yet the number of biomechanists who contribute to AAHPERD has declined over the past decade. Movement biomechanics is still crucial to safe, effective, and efficient movement. Athletes and physical education students still need practitioners whose methods integrate core biomechanical concepts and principles. This session's objective is to examine the future of biomechanics as a viable asset to NASPE/AAHPERD. Sponsored by Vicon Motion Systems.
