Obesity is a growing epidemic; therefore, it is crucial to learn how to apply practical prevention and intervention methods. The purpose of this session is to expand health educators' knowledge on unique and safe weight management practices while working with young, rural populations. This study measured the impact of rural living on obesity (n=980) to ascertain risk and protective factors. Intervention strategies to help promote healthy body weight for rural populations will be discussed.
