School-Community Partnerships: After-School Elementary Physical and Health Education Programs |
B-FIT and GIFT, two after-school programs for elementary school students in the 4th and 5th grades, have been implemented in a small rural town in Ohio as a result of partnerships between the local school district, YMCA, and Mount Union College. This session will discuss the partnership, planning, implementation, evaluation, and challenges of these two programs, which meet student needs for activity and recreation and provide college students with essential teaching and leadership opportunities. |
