Transition of Students with Disabilities in Community Recreation Programs
Preparing students with disabilities for post-secondary education opportunities in community recreational programs is a major responsibility for general and adapted physical educators. Careful planning, preparation and implementation of appropriate practices start in the classroom and eventually lead to the successful transition into community recreation. This session will address the role of the adapted physical educator working with other educators and parents and community leaders in promoting community participation of students with disabilities.
