Persuasive Technology for Behavior Change and Health Promotion
Persuasion is one of the most effective tools to help change others’ attitudes or behaviors. With the introduction and advances of computers and other new technologies, persuasion based on technology is getting smarter. The purpose of this tutorial is to provide the field an introduction on persuasive technology, including what it is, why we need it and how it should be designed and applied. Research studies and applications in internet, sensor and radio-frequency identification technologies, as well as interactive game technology, will be reviewed and summarized. Critical remaining research questions and future research directions will be discussed.
