Connecting Fitness and Outdoor Activities in a PETE Program
More than ever, fewer youth are exposed to outdoor activities that promote lifelong physical activity/fitness. Research has shown that the introduction of outdoor and recreational activities, such as hiking and cycling, increases the potential motivation for young people to seek a lifetime of activity and wellness. This session will discuss how PETE programs can develop physical educators with the knowledge, skills, and awareness needed to change the activity patterns of our society through outdoor activities.
