Multicultural Learning through Physical Education
This presentation will demonstrate ways to incorporate physical activity, sports, dances, and recreational activities in cultural contexts in the physical education class. The presentation has the potential for enhancing understanding and appreciation among the multiple cultures and countries present in our schools today and will create opportunities for experiential and meaningful learning themes about countries’ culture, values, belief, dance, geography, and languages. We will present practical activities addressing the following countries: Brazil, Cameroon (West Africa), Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and the United States. The audience will learn some aspects of each country’s culture, dances, foods, expressions, flag colors, sports, and geography.
