Strengthening Physical Education in NCLB - The FIT Kids Act
NASPE and the American Heart Association have been working together since fall 2006 to strengthen physical education and activity in the reauthorization of NCLB. The Fitness Integrated with Teaching (FIT) Kids Act, introduced in the House and Senate in 2007, contains important provisions such as requiring schools to report on physical education time and the use of certified physical education teachers. At this session, hear about the support that FIT Kids has from legislators on Capitol Hill and what still needs to be done to increase the likelihood that FIT Kids provisions will be included in the new NCLB bill.
