This session provides a model for choosing developmentally appropriate opportunities through PLAY that positively impact the physical, social, and cognitive development of individuals with disabilities. Play will be examined through the bottom up approach, focusing on sensory and perceptual motor skills and a Top Down approach that will develop specific lifetime skills. Learn Today, Implement Tomorrow. Come learn or brush up on disability-specific modifications of equipment, environment, and instructional strategies that will create a successful environment for all in elementary physical education. Watch teachers implement these strategies in an inclusive setting. Participants will receive a clear model for determining appropriate activities. |
