Southern District Scholar Lecture: Redefine the Finish Line: Repositioning and Re-prioritizing Sport and Physical Activity in the African American Community. |
The purpose of this presentation will be to raise awareness of the influence of sport on the perceptions and choices of society in general and African American youth in particular. This presentation will explore the positive and negative, psychosocial influences of particular sports, and how sport has shaped the perceptions, distorted realities, and possibly influenced the health of members of the African American community. The importance of the role of the physical educator will also be discussed.
