Designing and Implementing A Model Online Course in Dance Appreciation
The purpose of this presentation is to define the steps for developing, implementing and evaluating an undergraduate “Dance Appreciation Online Course” to satisfy the university Fine Arts component. The design includes the textbook, outline, syllabus, references, web links, power points, and tests. The construction covers the content, materials, resources, and internet skills needed. The implementation issues and problems addressed are copyright issues (videos/DVD’s), grading, e-mails, and an activity component. The results of the teacher evaluations indicate that students react positively, enhance their dance knowledge and appreciation and online skills. Class size, maintenance, supervision, and time requirements are challenging.
