Advances in Sports Medicine: A Case Study
High school athletes account for an estimated 2 million injuries, 500,000 doctor visits, and 30,000 hospitalizations annually. Surveillance of exposure-based injury rates in a nationally representative sample of high school athletes and analysis of injury patterns can help guide activities aimed at reducing injuries. Speakers from the National Athletic Trainers Association will present on injury prevention, recognition, and treatment advancement at the high school and college levels based on findings from the respective injury surveillance studies. Participants will gain practical knowledge on advancements in sport for the specific purpose of decreasing the incidence for injury in sport and recreation activities.
