Coaching Mental Skills in Action! |
Coaches see the need for youth and high school athletes to learn mental skills to focus and perform under pressure, stay motivated, and remain confident. However, many coaches are uncomfortable teaching mental skills because of the lack of concrete strategies that exist (Gould, Medbery, Damarjian, & Lauer, 1999). This experiential workshop will demonstrate practical ways to coach mental skills in a series of break out sessions from several sports including tennis, track and field, martial arts, golf, and cross country. Additionally, mental skills drills will be delivered and packaged so that they can be easily integrated into practices. |
