Local Clubs for Promoting Outdoor Activities in Communities and Schools
With our increasingly sedentary lives, fewer people (and children in particular) are being exposed to outdoor activities. Conservational organizations are urging parents to get their children outdoors at least once a week. But why isn't this happening? Possible barriers include insufficient knowledge about where to go, absence of outdoor skills, and no contact with others with similar interests. One possible solution can be local outdoor activity clubs. Learn how some of the most successful local clubs in the country remove barriers and get people outdoors. Specific topics include program ideas, recruitment of members, communication, websites, and special events.
