Managing Risks for Sport Management Internships |
Sport management internship programs require accountability from the employers, students, and institutions. A number of situations have occurred in which the safety of the organization, institution, student or others, during an internship experience, has been called into question (Damron v. Fabian, 2006; McMahon v. Kindlarksi, 2006). Managing risks to prevent such occurrences may include cultural, philosophical, and legal paradigm shifts from the present methods used by many institutions in assigning sport management interns to organizations. This presentation will provide insights as to what the cultural, philosophical, and legal paradigm shifts may be in order to better manage potential risks. |
