Exergaming: Combining Video Games, Physical Activity, and Fun
Being physically active is an important component of a healthy lifestyle. This collaborative workshop will focus on using exergames, interactive video games that require the player to be physically engaged, as a healthy alternative to traditional sports and activities. Results from our research studies will show the physical, social, and psychological benefits of playing exergames. Our panel of presenters will discuss the benefits of exergames for a wide range of populations including youngsters with and without disabilities, adults, and seniors. We will provide examples of how exergames are used in schools, clinical settings, community centers, and fitness clubs.
