Activating Connections Between Physical Activity, Self-Esteem, and Fitness
Results of national studies suggest that young women aged 11-14 have a period of significant change in self-esteem. Factors contributing to a decline in one’s value of self include loss of self-confidence and a limited acceptance of body image. Correspondingly, daily participation in physical activity declines as all young women progress through grade levels. This session will offer strategies to increase the proportion of female adolescents who participate in daily physical activity. Intended audience is any person who is interested in working with young women.
