Fitness Levels of Youth: Where Are We 20 Years Later? |
The National Children & Youth Fitness Study I and II showed the fitness levels and activity levels of school-age children in 1985 and 1987. Since that time obesity levels have skyrocketed. In this age of “screen time” it is definitely time to re-visit and re-assess our children’s fitness levels! This study assessed fitness levels of school-age children in California attending private and public schools. Implications may inform physical education requirements in schools, curriculum itself, and family lifestyle behaviors. |
